About Tealyra

The history of our brand

Our journey started with a simple passion for tea, evolving into a mission to connect enthusiasts of all levels, from the curious novice to the discerning connoisseur, in a shared exploration of tea's rich flavors and traditions. We started our operations in 2010 as retail tea stores Tealux in the Canadian province of Quebec, and only in 2014, after 4 years of hard work, we took the next step and moved to online sales worldwide using the Tealyra brand.
We are united by a profound passion for tea and a relentless pursuit of excellence. With hands stained by matcha and hearts filled with enthusiasm, our team crafts unique blends that reflect our steadfast dedication to quality. We provide a wide range of premium organic teas, cultivated directly on our plantations, alongside our innovative blends created to inspire and delight.

The name of our brand is a combination of words 'Tea' and 'Lyra', where the latter refers to a famous and bright constellation. An interesting fact, within the Lyra constellation lies the trio of galaxies NGC 6745 in the mixing and merging to form a new galaxy, like a process of blending different teas to create a unique new blend, but which has been going on for millions of years. "Discover the best Galaxy of Teas" is our brand slogan.
In Greek Mythology, Lyra represents the tortoise shell lyre of Orpheus, a famous musician and poet. Orpheus was known for his incredible musical talent and his ability to charm even the stones with his beautiful music. When he died, his lyre was thrown into a river, and Zeus sent an eagle to retrieve the lyre and placed both of them permanently in the sky.
For all of us, Tealyra is more than just a tea company. It's our own way of enjoying life and we're honored to share our way with customers worldwide, from our home base outside of Montreal, Canada, to (believe it or not) China itself, Southern California, small Cree communities in Northern Quebec, and all over Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and beyond.
