Description

Kukicha Kabuse is a fine Japanese green tea with a clean taste and light fresh green aroma. Kukicha Kabuse is a Karigane tea meaning that it consists of the stems and stalks that remain from organic Gyokuro tea production that are otherwise discarded. Kukicha Kabuse “twig tea” produces a unique and prized specialty Japanese tea. Gyokuro is a top-grade shade grown Japanese green tea that is sweet, mild and rich. Kukicha Kabuse is theanine-rich, aromatic and produces a liquor that is a beautiful shade of green; the flavor is uniquely sweet and delicate, without any astringency. Kukicha Kabuse is simple to brew, has a wide brewing spectrum with multiple infusions, and will brew well at many varying brewing temperatures. A highly recommend organic green tea!

Good beginner tea (but may quickly become an old favorite). Some flexibility with brewing (leaving in 30 seconds too long does not spoil the tea.). I brew with 1 heaping TBSP and 10 oz water. Good for at least three infusions although the last is weak. Brew time about 2min 20 seconds for me.
Nice delicate flavor--not astringent, a little pleasant-seaweed, little sweetness. Just a nice tea flavor. No flavor extremes here. No fuss.

This tea is my favorite and daily - 2 steeps from 1 Tbsp + 300 g water. The umami flavor is very pronounced. It's flavor compares to premium gyokuro.

Very light, somewhat sweetly vegetal, umami, with a hint of nuttyness and very low astringency.

A very interesting green tea. It's quite a bit different than standard green teas made from leaves, yet still very familiar. I recommend trying kukicha to see if you like it!
